3.20.14 - Thursday Thoughts

Here are a few things to consider this week as you “think FPRA!”

COX & CORPORATE GIVING
Join TOMORROW for an in-depth look at how Cox invests in a community as an intentional strategic move.  Take away tips for corporate partnerships to develop a “win-win” situation.  Devon Chestnut, APR, presents this interesting session.  Devon’s a familiar face in Ocala but is a member of the Gainesville FPRA chapter and the FPRA state board.  You can still attend using the $25 at-the-door rate.

DATA NEVER SLEEP
Every 60 seconds...YouTube users upload 48 hours of new video… Google receives more than 2 million search queries… and Tumblr blog owners publish 27,778 new posts.  This eye-opening infographic, “Data Never Sleeps” comes from Domo, a company that “transforms the way executives manage their business” and shows what happens on the Internet’s most popular services every minute..

JOB POSTING – CITY OF OCALA
The City of Ocala has posted an opening for a Public Communications Coordinator.  Please click here, check off the boxes, and “continue” for more information.

Feeling hungry? Our Image update is sure to satisfy!
Congratulations, FPRA Ocala Chapter. This past Monday, March 17, we submitted 12 Mid-Florida Local Image Award entries to the Treasure Coast Chapter, meeting our 2014 Image objective. We received eight entries submitted by seven members from the Ocala Chapter, two entries from the Volusia/Flagler Chapter (on behalf of a local project) and two entries from the Brooksville area.

Meanwhile, your Image committee is finalizing plans for our Image event on April 25. Think of our April 25 event as an FPRA after-hours celebration. We’ll not only recognize our top chefs but also enjoy gourmet food and great company. We’ll even learn something new and give back to the community by sponsoring a canned food drive to benefit Interfaith Emergency Services. IMPORTANT: The April 25 event will replace our regularly scheduled meeting at the Holiday Inn. We’ll communicate more details about our Image gala in future Thursday Thoughts communications.

BLOG BONUS: are your negotiating skills this good?

I’m on Spring Break next week (along with the rest of Marion County Public Schools’ 42,000 students and 6,000 employees), so it will be two weeks until my next email.  Until then, continue to “think FPRA!”
